Underground connections
Underground service work runs the supply from the network's point of common coupling to your main switchboard through conduit and trench rather than through the air. It is the standard for new builds, knockdown-rebuilds and streetscapes where councils require undergrounding.

Timing
When it's needed
New dwellings, major renovations that upgrade supply capacity, failed consumer mains identified during an inspection, and streets undergoing network undergrounding programs all require class 2B service work. The physical trench route and restoration standards form part of the scope.
Never touch fallen service lines, exposed conductors or damaged network equipment. Keep people clear and report life-threatening electrical hazards to the network operator or emergency services immediately.

Level 2 service work in NSW may only be performed by accredited service providers authorised under the ASP scheme for the relevant class of work. Ask any provider for their ASP accreditation number, its classes, and their electrical licence, and verify both before work starts.
