Metering sits at the boundary between the network, the retailer and your installation. Class 2D accreditation covers installing and altering the metering equipment itself, a distinct scope from the wiring work either side of it.

Timing
When it's needed
Any switchboard project that disturbs the meter panel, any relocation of the supply position, and any change from single-phase to three-phase involves metering work. Retailer and metering-coordinator processes run alongside the physical work, so sequencing matters for the quote.
Never touch fallen service lines, exposed conductors or damaged network equipment. Keep people clear and report life-threatening electrical hazards to the network operator or emergency services immediately.

Level 2 service work in NSW may only be performed by accredited service providers authorised under the ASP scheme for the relevant class of work. Ask any provider for their ASP accreditation number, its classes, and their electrical licence, and verify both before work starts.
